I think I might have witnessed the worst music video remake ever. I am a Windows Vista user, and one of Vista’s features is the sidebar, which contains several little fun programs called gadgets (similar to widgets on Macs). Anyways, I have a gadget that tells me what the “Most Viewed Video” on YouTube.com is. Today, it was the Alanis Morissette - My Humps music video. Out of curiosity, I clicked the link to check it out, and thats where the pain began…

“My Humps” is a remake of the 2005 pop anthem by the Black Eyed Peas. Now, I know it isn’t cool to like “pop” music, or anything blasted on the radio 50x a day, but I still enjoyed the BEP version of the song back in the day when it was popular (sue me). This new Alanis Morissette version, however, could be the worst remake I have ever heard (or seen). She slows down the beat to a snails pace, and belts out the lyrics in an undeniably whining tone. Her voice was as harsh as nails on a chalkboard, and as annoying as Llyod Christmas’ “most annoying sound in the world” from the movie Dumb and Dumber.

Unfortunately the video is just as bad as the song. Obviously she was trying to mock the original BEP video, but fell short on so many levels. It looks like it was shot on a low budget set, with low budget cameras, and low budget talent. The video idea was about as stale as Alanis’ comedic performance during the video. Note to Alanis: “You aren’t funny.”

So, this is what I learned from the Alanis “My Humps” video…

• Fergie actually sounds better than Alanis (sad but true)
• Alanis apparently has ZERO budget to work with (and for good reason after seeing this tragedy)
• I was pretty sure Alanis wasn’t funny beforehand, but now I’m positive.
• Alanis has no humps, lovely lady lumps, or dare I say talent?.

Below are the two music videos. The first one is the Alanis version, and the second is the original Black Eyed Peas version. Oh, and while searching for these videos on YouTube, I accidentally ran across a homemade version of the Black Eyed Peas version of the song. It is completely ridiculous, and terrible to say the least. It is so bad, that it is often hilarious. I recommend watching the whole thing, because about 80% of it sucks, but the other 20% is funny, and those funny parts are sprinkled throughout the video, so you kinda got to watch the whole thing to see them all. I love the guy’s face at 2 min 45 sec through the video…gets me every time.
